Due Monday, 9/25 -- Preliminary Commercial Analysis

I chose to analyze a commercial about a middle class family whose baby, unfortunately, is afraid of the couple's dog. However, she really likes her stuffed animal, a little lion with a big mane. Seeing this, the husband orders the dog a lion mane on Amazon Prime (because that's apparently a thing), and there you go -- the baby likes the dog, the dog is happy, the husband is proud of himself, and all is well with the world.

Amazon produced this commercial, probably so they could convince people to become Amazon Prime members. Since the family in this video seems to be a member of the middle class, and since members of the middle class and above would likely have more money to pay for Amazon Prime, they most likely are targeting the middle and upper classes. They also are probably targeting families -- especially families with babies -- because babies always need a lot of stuff, like diapers, cribs, diapers, car seats, diapers, toys, and diapers.

The pathos in this commercial is the strongest element. After all, the commercial's producers put two of the most emotion-evoking creations on earth in their thirty-second allotment (babies and dogs -- and Golden Retriever dogs at that). I chose this commercial primarily because if its pathos; every time I see it, I can't help but release a very girly "Awwww!" Logos and ethos are less prevalent; any reasoning is based on the if-it-feels-good-do-it mentality, and credibility is already established with the Amazon logo.
